14:50 By sommy

A Junior Secondary student of the Secondary Technical School , Okwudor in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State was killed yesterday by a hit-and-run bus.
Witnesses told 247ureports.com that the incident happened around 3.00pm in front of the school along the Orlu-Owerri Road when the student, identified as Ekene Okorondu, alongside his colleagues, was waiting to cross the road.
The driver of the vehicle, a white-coloured Ford bus with a private registration number, was said to be on high speed and in an attempt to avoid the numerous potholes on the road, suddenly swerved and ran into the boy, 13, causing him to be smashed on the blocks packed in front of the school by a block industry.
Aware of the person he had killed, the driver sped off while other students and motorcyclists at the Okwudor Junction made unsuccessful attempt to apprehend him.
As at the time of filing this report, the principal and teachers of the school could not be reached for comments.
However, when contacted, the police public relations officer of the Imo State police command, Mr. Andrew Enwerem (DSP) said he had not been briefed about the incident.
