Genevieve Nnaji Breaks It Big Yet Again! Produces Her First Feature Film
Oris Erhuero (Sometimes in April, The Adventures of Simbad) was reportedly in the country recently to work on a film with eminent actress Genevieve Nnaji. We can authenticate that truly Erhuero is currently concluding the said production, whose name we could not confirm.
However, we can also reveal that the ongoing production is Genevieve’s first shot at producing a feature film. The film also stars Ebele Okaro Onyiuke, Chioma Omeruah (Chigurl), Majid Michel, Meg Otanwa and Deyemi Okalanwon apart from Nnaji and Erhuero, who play the lead roles.
The movie’s director is Ishaya Bako (Fuelling Poverty, Braids on a Bald Head), fillingfans with high expectations because this is most likely Bako’s first feature film coupled with the fact that Nnaji has not starred in any film in the last two years or thereabouts. There is also high anticipation that Nollywood is about to be regaled with another classic, given Bako and Nnaji’s antecedents. It will be recalled that following the controversy, surrounding the part removal of the fuel subsidy in 2012, Bako produced and directed Fuelling Poverty, an illuminating documentary which was banned by the Federal Government of Nigeria; butwent ahead to win the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for Best Documentary that year. Bako is also known to have directed an exciting short film, Braids on a Bald Head, which also won an AMAA for Best Short Film. Bako had equally been hired to turn a couple of the HOMEVIDA winning scripts into gripping short films.
Nnaji, on her own part, has in the past decade or so, drastically reduced the number of films she appears in; only partaking in movies that merit her status as one of Nollywood’s undisputed first ladies.
