This is definitely not the best of time for beautiful female politician, Jumoke Abidemi Okoya-Thomas. Things seem not to be hooking up for her as she has planned. And these are issues that have to do with the heart.
For reasons best known to her, Jumoke has called off her wedding plans with her lover of many years, Senator David Alachenu Bonaventure Mark, the President of the Senate and number three citizen of Nigeria. But for the sudden cancellation, Jumoke and Senator Mark would have been married by now. Of course, the circumstances that led to the cancellation of the wedding plans, keep tongues wagging till now.
Jumoke, the first daughter of respected industrialist and statesman, Chief Molade Okoya-Thomas, is a member of the Federal House of Representatives and she represents Lagos Island 1 Federal Constituency of Lagos State.
The 57-year old mother of three is one of the most formidable female politicians in the country. Presently, she is serving her third term in the House of Representatives and she has sponsored many Bills as well.
Information gathered indicate that Jumoke and Senator Mark have consciously guarded their love affair for many years. However, they decided to get married and they opted for a quiet ceremony. Unfortunately though, one of David Mark’s wives, Helen, who parades herself as his official wife, turned out to be the clog in the wheel of that marriage plan. She deflated their hope of getting married, as she was alleged to have vowed to make life unbearable for her husband, should he go ahead to marry Jumoke. Not even several pleas, made by some notable Nigerians towards Helen could make her shift her ground. Eventually, Jumoke, who could not stomach the hoopla, generated by Helen’s resistance, was forced to call off the wedding plan. It is imperative to add that, Mark is also married to three other women-Omale, Kate and Randa.
Sources disclosed to that Helen might have put up the resistance because she foresaw a situation where Jumoke could upstage her if she joined her husband’s harem.
Meanwhile, Jumoke has put the whole episode behind her, as she is reported to have moved on with her life. Although, she is still very much romantically involved with the Senate President, Jumoke has been keeping herself busy with her political activities and spending quality time with her sons and grandchild.
